The current layout of the modular street (as it looked when the Jazz Club was added) has left a single 32x32 baseplate space for another modular building. The idea was that the next model - the 2024 release - would simply go into that gap or, if appropriate another 32x32 stud model could be swapped with the latest release.

Then Lego announced the new model. A modular museum. With a footprint of 48x32 studs. So that meant working out what to move in order to make a space large enough for the museum. This has resulted in a few changes the street and re-arangement of models and extras

  • The Juice bar and Sushi bar that were positioned below the viaduct arches on Erling Mews have been moved across the road and now sit on the other side of the pedestrianised street.

  • The viaduct arches on Erling Mews have been taken out, and rebuild as a deep (16 stud) two arch viaduct. This is now positioned behind the Diner, coming out from the back wall and designed to look like part of an old viaduct that was never removed.

  • The local pub that was positioned on Block lane beyond the cinema has been taken out, reduced from a 32x32 footprint to a 32x16 footprint and placed on Erling Mews just past the toyshop and music shop builds against the back wall (where the Juice bar, Sushi bar and arches were)

  • The Town Hall that was positioned on Modular Avenue beyond the Sanctum Santorium set has been moved to the side of the cinema (where the local pub was)

  • The Clock tower that sat in the middle of Modular Avenue has been moved left into the space left by moving the Town Hall.

  • The market stalls that were in front of the Clock tower have been repositioned so that they are still in front of the new position for the clock tower.

  • A small tram stop waiting area on Clutch crescent has been removed, and the Pet Shop store moved back 16 studs into the gap left.

All this results in a 32 x 64 space that will be large enough for the museum to fit into at the back of Modular Avenue. The museum will be set back from the rest of the buildings, standing on its own and looking grand. On either side of the museum there will be an 8x32 space for a little area of green that will continue the fence from the museum. These areas will contain plants and some tall trees.

The next post should be about the building and lighting of the Modular museum.

A stressful time for the Removals company, with so many changes needed.
